The World’s Best Egg Nog Recipes CAN Get Better. . .

How? By using milk from grassfed cows and eggs from pastured poultry hens in your egg nog recipes. Egg nog recipes made with grassfed milk may taste nearly the same as regular milk, but the grassfed cow's milk is far healthier. An eggnog recipe made with milk from cows which graze outdoors rather than from grain-fed cows is loaded with cancer fighting omega-3 fatty acids. (Most milk nowdays comes from grain-based dairies.)

According to a recent French study, when women eat a diet relatively rich in omega-3s vs omega-6s (another kind of fatty acid generally derived from grains), they have a 74 percent reduction in their risk of breast cancer. (Excerpted with permission from www.eatwild.com, Jo Robinson's website)

And eggs . . . wow! This may blow your mind. You’ll actually be able to SEE the difference between pastured poultry eggs and the supermarket variety. Eggs from grassfed hens may surprise you with their deep golden color.

Unless you were born before World War II or have a grandpa on the farm you most likely have never seen the true color of a hen’s egg when raised in it’s natural environment.

The nearly orange color of the yolk comes from carotene that results from the natural grass diet of the hens. The beta carotene molecule is believed to act as both an anti-oxidant and an immune system booster. While synthetic beta-carotene may have undesirable side effects, this natural variety has no known side effects. According to the World of Molecules website, “Virtually every study shows that foods rich in beta carotene help keep people healthy—and even reduce the risk of lung cancer.”

Eggs from grassfed hens can often be purchased from local farmers and sometimes from quality supermarkets or health food stores. Try one of these egg nog recipes and SEE the difference!
