1 ½ teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 Tablespoons grated onion

This has got to be one of the easiest ground beef recipes in existence. All you do is combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Form into thin patties, about 6-8. Brown patties in heavy skillet or frying pan. Flip carefully and brown on other side. Serves 6-8.

Beef Health Notes:

If you are able to find and buy (better yet, raise your own) grassfed meat, the hamburger will be even more healthful for you and your family than regular beef. And regular store-bought beef is itself exceedingly healthful. According to the South Dakota Beef Industry Council a 3 ounce serving of lean beef is under 200 calories. For that fraction of a total day’s calories, you get:

  • 46% of the adults man’s (RDA) recommended Daily Allowance for protein
  • 59% of the adult woman’s RDA for protein
  • 15% of the adult woman’s RDA for iron
  • 40% of the adult RDA for zinc
  • 76% of the adult RDA for vitamin B-12

Beef has only 76 milligrams of cholesterol in a 3-ounce serving. Beef is one of the best sources of iron. It’s rich in heme iron, the kind of iron that’s most easily absorbed. Over half the fat in beef is actually mono- or poly-unsaturated.
