Cooking Steak Indoors --Easy as 1, 2, 3

Is cooking steak indoors a new thought to you?

Outdoor grilling has become so popular that some don't think about how simple it is to pan fry steak on the kitchen range. The grilling steaks recipes and hoopla permeate magazines and foodie sections of newspapers and online advertising. That's OK, but don't forget how easy and how pleasant it is to enjoy steak in the middle of a Mid-West winter. Here is one of my favorite steak recipes because it's so simple and quick.

After heating a skillet to medium-low heat and trimming fat from the steak—

One: Dash salt and pepper onto steak
Two: Brown steak on both sides in skillet
Three: Continue cooking and turning frequently to reach desired doneness

That's as easy as 1, 2 3. Go ahead and serve. Grassfed steak, whether beef, lamb or venison has it's own flavor and doesn't need all the marinades of store-bought meat. Of course, use steak sauce or seasonings to spice things as you wish.

How long should you cook the steak? For a 1 inch steak, I suggest about 8-10 minutes for rare, 12-13 minutes for medium, and 14-15 minutes for well done.
